For Marc and Devin Pappas, giving back is a labor of love. While Marc is more behind the scenes and quiet, Devin is most definitely out in front and active in so many charitable organizations in our community. For years she has emceed many philanthropic events for Hope Villages of America, Central Park Performing Arts Center, and others. She has also chaired events such as the first annual RCS Grand Gala which raised nearly $250,000 to feed, shelter, and assist those in need in Pinellas County. For many years she has chaired the Faces of Domestic Violence event and founded and continues to chair the Denim and Diamonds Gala which has raised over $500,00 for those in need. In addition to raising money, Devin is a Domestic Violence Advocate and Volunteer at Hope Villages of America's domestic violence shelter "The Haven".
In 2015 Devin founded a program known as Pathways to Business Fundamentals in which she sought gently used women's clothing from local women groups, friends, and neighbors. She approached local retailers to become drop-off centers for these donations. The clothing was used in her program which sought to provide for the women in the shelter who often fled with only the clothes on their backs.
For Marc and Devin Pappas, giving back is a labor of love. While Marc is more behind the scenes and quiet, Devin is most definitely out in front and active in so many charitable organizations in our community. For years, she had chaired numerous philanthropic events for various organizations including the Hope Villages of America, Central Park Performing Arts Center as well as founding and Chairing her own event she started in 2016, The Denim and Diamonds Gala.
Her involvement with Hope Villages of America began in 2012 as a domestic violence advocate and volunteer at the Hope Villages of America Domestic Violence Shelter, she had seen firsthand the impact that domestic violence can have on individuals and families. raise funds for the shelter, she had founded and continued to chair the Denim and Diamonds event gala, which had raised over $500,000 for those in need.
But Devin didn't just focus on raising money. In 2015, she founded a program known as Pathways in Business Fundamentals. The program sought gently used women's clothing from local groups, friends, and neighbors, and approached local retailers to become drop-off centers for those donations. The clothing was then used in the program, which provided women at the shelter with the clothes they needed to work. Most women who enter the shelter come with only the clothes on their backs, so the Pathways program was essential in helping them get back on their feet.
While Devin was the face of these charitable endeavors, Marc played a critical role in supporting her efforts. He was always there to help with the logistics of the events, such as securing the venue, coordinating with vendors, and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Marc's organizational skills and attention to detail were invaluable in making these events a success.
Together, Marc and Devin were an unstoppable force for good in their community. They believed in the power of giving back and were committed to making a positive impact in the lives of those around them. Their tireless efforts and dedication to helping others were an inspiration to all who knew them, and their legacy would live on for years to come.
In 2021 we put into motion the organization of a Charitable Foundation that would be 100% volunteer-run, and that ALL money raised would go directly to the charitable organizations in most need in our community. Only with the partnership of past committee members, friends, and magazine sponsors were we able to create the Raising Relief Foundation.
